The Crusades Sea Castle is where we start our visit, a splendid old sand stones floating fortress protecting the city seafront where lies the old busy souks of Saida. Day 3: Beiteddine & Shouf

Day 5: Cedars & Kozhaya

Our journey begins at the captivating Cedars of God Forest in Bcharre, Lebanon, where ancient cedar trees, some over 2000 years old, stand as majestic symbols of Lebanon. As we stroll along the main street adorned with souvenir kiosks, the beauty of these timeless trees captivates the senses. A one-hour hike led by your guide unfolds the rich history and symbolism of the “Cedrus Libani,” the iconic Cedar tree of Lebanon.

We conclude our tour in the Qadisha Valley, also known as the “Sacred Valley,” located 6 kilometers from Bcharre. Day 6: Tripoli & Batroun

Our journey begins at the Phoenician Wall in Batroun, a charming coastal town in Northern Lebanon. Nestled amidst old streets, B&Bs, beaches, breweries, wineries, and authentic Phoenician walls, Batroun offers an authentic and picturesque destination.

Continuing our exploration, we visit the Citadel Saint Gilles in Tripoli, a Crusader fortress towering above the authentic souks, hammams, Caravan Serail, traditional neighborhoods, and the Abou Ali River. Originally built in 1103-1104, partially rebuilt in the following century, and still used by the Lebanese military, this fortress showcases an impressive entrance with a moat and three gateways (Ottoman, Mamluk, Crusader). Inside, informative panels and a small museum enhance the experience.

Our final destination is the renowned Hallab 1881 in Tripoli, a sweets palace dating back to 1881. Founded by a family of talented chefs, this sweet factory has become famous for its local sweets. Towering above our walking path thru Tripoli’s authentic Souks, Hammams, Caravan Serail, the traditional neighborhoods and the Abou Ali River, this Crusader fortress was originally built during the period from 1103 to 1104. Burned down in 1297, it was partly rebuilt the following century by a Mamluk emir and is still used by the Lebanese military. Today, it’s an impressive structure whose most impressive element is the imposing entrance with its moat and three gateways (one Ottoman, one Mamluk, one Crusader). Inside, there are decent information panels as well as a small museum.

We’ll drive in the morning to the museum located in the heart of the east side of Beirut. The National Museum was built in the forties, destroyed in the seventies, revived in the nineties. But what did we do to protect our valuable discoveries? Let’s get some answers and visit this wonderful museum for much more…

Downtown Beirut: this area was badly shattered during the civil war in the seventies. Wonderfully restored in the nineties… The parliament house, the government palace, the Roman “hammams”, the Martyr’s square, Beirut largest Mosque, and the renovated souks are all within walking distance… we will end our nice moderate walk in the streets of DT by checking what is going on at the fancy waterfront, Zaitunay bay more precisely… Restaurants, cafes, bars are all standing there for you… We proceed by car to the Raouche area to discover the symbol of the city; “The Pigeon Rocks” and then drive back to your hotel.
