Job Description

The Manager of Sports Events leads the development of national properties, large-scale events, and key event initiatives within the region, creating clear points of differentiation and strengthening the brand image. In this role, you will act as a project leader, working with all major stakeholders to maximize the impact of regional sports event initiatives.

Your responsibilities will cover all aspects of event delivery, from creative development and conceptualization through to execution and post-event evaluation. You will collaborate with local field teams, providing guidance and support to ensure full utilization of all sports properties and Red Bull partners in host markets. This includes contributing to goal setting, identifying key communities and strategic relationships, and directing relevant initiatives linked to national and regional events taking place in the region.

  • Lead high-quality event execution and production for all Red Bull Sports events in the region.

    Take fiscal responsibility for event budgets on assigned projects.

    Identify and propose event sites based on local market needs and expected return on investment.

    Develop project plans, oversee their execution, and lead project teams.

    Oversee all aspects of pre-planning and event execution.

    Serve as the liaison between Red Bull and local authorities to secure all necessary authorizations.

    Ensure effective communication and information sharing among team members and partners.

    Manage event budgets.

    Work with the Legal team to draft contracts, solicit and review bids, evaluate proposals, and negotiate optimal pricing with partners and suppliers.

    Source and manage event production companies and oversee all event logistics.

    Collaborate with the media agency on the development and execution of above-the-line strategies.

    Partner with the regional Communications team to maximize media impact for key projects.

    Collaborate with regional leadership and the Santa Monica teams to inform regional Sports Marketing strategy.

    Work with Risk Management and Legal departments to execute all necessary agreements with external parties in accordance with Red Bull standards.

  • Collaborate with local brand marketing and sales teams to develop activation plans that build local relevance.

    Manage the distribution of event collateral across the region.

    Work with regional marketing leadership and third-party partners to develop new branding solutions for events.

  • Participate in meetings, including Brand Marketing creative workshops and training sessions, to gather and share insights and align strategies.

    Identify and share best practices across the regional Marketing team and the Sports department.

    Work with the regional Communications team to drive ROI by ensuring effective external communication, including creating content.

    Manage the distribution of content for local initiatives across relevant channels (e.g., social/viral, print, video).

EXPERIENCE

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in event, project, team coordination, and budget management
  • Proven experience in event and project management
  • Ability to develop creative and unique solutions for project execution
  • Knowledge of multiple sports and their respective landscapes at both regional and national levels
  • Experience managing budgets in excess of $400,000
  • Strong contract and negotiation skills, including drafting and reviewing advantageous agreements with suppliers and external partners
  • Experience working with a variety of distribution outlets and communication channels
  • Experience with television and video production programming
  • Established record of credible collaboration with local governments, including familiarity with local approval processes and regulations
  • Ability to foster meaningful dialogue and secure stakeholder buy-in
  • Strong planning and project management skills
  • Ability to cultivate and support a collaborative team environment
  • Creative thinker with experience implementing new ideas and evaluating their outcomes
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent professional experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
  • Proficiency in English; additional languages are an asset
  • Travel 20-30%
